This policy explains what Basis Lab collects when you use it, what we do with it, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal information.
1. What we collect
- Account details. Your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google.
- Your learning. The goals you give us, your placement answers, the courses written for you, the questions you ask, your attempts at problems, your notes and your progress.
- Feedback. Messages you send with the feedback button, and the page you sent them from.
- Technical information. Your IP address, browser and device type, and server logs of requests, used to keep the service running and secure.
- Payments. When paid plans are available, payments are handled by our payment provider. We receive your plan and payment status, not your full card number.
2. Cookies and browser storage
We use a cookie to keep you signed in, and your browser's storage to remember things like the course you have open so pages load faster. We do not use advertising cookies.
3. How we use it
- to sign you in and keep your courses and progress on your account;
- to write lessons for you, check your work, and adapt your course to your strengths and gaps;
- to answer your feedback and send you messages about your account;
- to find and fix problems, prevent abuse, and improve Basis Lab.
4. Who we share it with
We share information only with services that help us run Basis Lab, and only what they need:
- AI providers (currently Anthropic and Google), which receive the course material and your questions or answers needed to write a response or mark your work. They process it on our behalf.
- Hosting and database providers, which store your account and courses.
- Sign-in and email providers, which sign you in and deliver email.
- A payment provider, once paid plans are available.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect people or the service.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your account and learning history while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep records by law, such as payment records.
6. Your choices
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your information by writing to [email protected]. We answer within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA, and you can exercise them the same way.
7. Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit, signed sign-in sessions and restricted access to our systems. No service on the internet is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee it.
8. Children
Basis Lab is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Where information is processed
Basis Lab and its providers operate in the United States and other countries, so your information may be processed outside the country where you live.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we tell you by email or in the app before the change takes effect.
